Attended the 2012 Mid-Year Orchid & Garden Show yesterday, September 1, 2012 at Quezon City Circle.  I bought some tillandsia from Ms. Baby Alarcon.  Got a freebie.  Thanks Ms. Baby.

Where to buy tillandsia in the Philippines

Here are the places where you can buy tillandsia in Manila, Philippines

1. Puentespina Orchids (Waling Orchids) located in Manila Seedling Bank, Quezon Ave.    Tel. 9242730.  I went there last July and I was so delighted.  They have a lot of tillandsia and I chose four (quite hard to chose when you're on a budget).

2. Horti Negrense located in Bacolod.  I bought from them during the Horticultural Show but unfortunately they do not have a place here in Manila.  They can deliver it (I'm still waiting for their pricelist). Tel. 0917-3559741, 0927-9180224

3. Garden, Horticultural Shows - attend those shows and you might be lucky.  Bought one from an exhibitor during the show.

4. Ms. Baby G. Alarcon. 20-I Malingap St., Teachers Village, Diliman Q.C.  Tel. 0917-5348186. She introduced me to air plants and I got hook on them.

MORE TILLANDSIAS

I bought four tillandsias from Puentespina Quezon Ave.  Here are the pictures.  I kept all the labels so now I know the names of the tillandsias (learned my lesson - never forget the names coz it is hard to identify them and sort of making me nuts).

Tillandsia ionantha rubra - this is the pup, I separated it from its mom below .  The pup is  different from its mom.  Wondering why.

Here are three of my unknown species of tillandsia.  Forgot the names.  Please help me to identify these tillandsias.  

Sir Bom of plantchaser.com responded on my query regarding these.  Thank you Sir Bom.

Unknown A: Quite large.  About 12 inches in height.   Got a response from Sir Bom of plantchaser.com that this might be  T. capitata or T. rhodocephala .  According to him, he needs to see the inflorescence for a definite ID.

Unknown C: Small.  Pup of the tillandsia below.  About 4  inches in height.  According to Sir Bom of plantchaser.com that this is a hybrid with T. capitata as possible parent.  When it flowers, i'll post a picture (it might take years).

Unknown C - mother of pup above.  Quite dry when I bought it . Muntik ko ng itapon.  Good thing that I didn't throw it away coz it produce one pup and I'm hoping it will produce more.  Still it looks like it is dying as it already flowered.
